The Ministry For The Future was inspired by a novel — and built for reality.
In his visionary book The Ministry For The Future, sci-fi author Kim Stanley Robinson imagines a world-altering organization tasked with ensuring the survival of our species and our planet. We are endlessly grateful to him — not just for writing the book, but for planting the seeds of a bold idea…
What if something like The Ministry actually existed?
So we’re going to bring it to life.
Right now, The Ministry begins as a podcast. That will be our starting point — a spotlight that can shine on and celebrate the people already doing the hard, courageous, and often underfunded and invisible work of building a future that’s more just, more humane, and more alive.
These heroes are all around you, though you likely don’t know it.
They are scientists. Storytellers. Policy architects. Culture shapers. Social entrepreneurs. Healers. We will lift them up. We will learn from them. And we’ll try our best to make it easier for the rest of us to join them.
But the podcast is only the beginning.
Long-term, The Ministry will become a full-fledged think tank and convening organization — a space for radical collaboration and wide-lens systems thinking. While most nonprofits and NGOs only focus on one vital piece of the puzzle, The Ministry will exist to help us see the whole “board.” It will help us work together on integrated, long-term solutions.
Eventually, we’ll host gatherings (virtual and in-person), offer resources, create connections, and help cross-pollinate the regenerative ideas that already exist — because they’re out there.
And we all need each other, now more than ever.
The word ministry comes from the Latin word ministerium, meaning “servant” or “service.”
This movement exists in service of the future — and in service of the humans working tirelessly to make our future a thriving and beautiful place.
Welcome to The Ministry For The Future.
